The French winger Gabriel Obertan did have his share of struggle to score at Newcastle, Manchester United and also the Latics during his tenure in England. Obertan was hailed as a replacement once for Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United and his journey of football continued in Bulgaria. The French midfielder was all set to sign a deal with Levski Sofia. The winger was released by Wigan towards the end of last season, which was followed by the relegation of Latics to League One.

Obertan joined the club as a free transfer due to ineffective spell with Anzhi Makhachkala, the Russian club.  Before this, the French winger had spent 5 seasons with Newcastle, although he made only 58 appearances and scored twice. The Manchester United had to deal with the hammer blow in 2009 as they had to accept defeat during their bid to retain Cristiano Ronaldo. Thereafter he became a part of Real Madrid for around £80 million.

However United’s team had a belief that they had found a hungry player who would achieve his dreams enthusiastically and that man was none other than Obertan. Obertan joined the club on 4 year contract from Bordeaux. However, during the time he faced an injury at Old Trafford. The winger managed to play only 14 times and did not succeed in finding the back of the net.

The legendary status of Sir Alex Ferguson at United can never be questioned. He did see something in the French Winger, which is not known to anyone till date. The 38 year old made its entry in Bulgaria and discussions were on for a 2 year deal. Obertan had been successful in completing multiple medical tests as per confirmation given by his agent Jeremy Lancery. Obertan is all geared up to be the 2^nd marquee signing the club post Jordi Gomez. He was on the Wigan’s books too. Besides, Swansea agreed to sign a contract with Bulgaria.
